Why would you use batting in this. You already have the batting stuffed in every square. That’s just a big waste

Do you have a snuggle kit, lap quilt, cushion, for reading, computer games and movies, with a tote to hold all the little things you need, including a sewing kit, and a glasses case for sunnies, for time out to look up new patterns, or days off?

Instead of cutting it off, for a pot holder, use bias style straight of grain binding. Start at one corner, Enclose one end with the other, and sew the other left over end into a loop at the same corner. Do you use buckets for projects at other times of the year, have you made any bakets with clear windows, in pockets, to hold your next project until you are ready Do you ever make your own alt charm pack (lights) or a few extra squares from yardage? Do you cut up 42× fat quarters into 2 layercakes, and four charm squares, or will one fat q, give you enough half jelly roll strips, to bind a small quilt? Use up the ones you don't like as much for scrappy? A 5 inch strip across a fat q, will give you 2 half J R strips. Lots of mini charms or flying geese bases? Potato chip rectangles? Can you make your own J R from the extras? Double layer cakes make a big quilt. Prep and cut a few each day and you can get 42 cut in a week? Make kits for baby quilts, to grab and sew later, add fabric for backing, binding etc. Note to self in the kits. and ticking it off as you add it will save checking time when you're ready. Where is the pattern if you need one. Have you tried all sorts of other block patterns you like? Have you ever joined fat q's for a backing? Have you made any design boards yet? Put a whole quilt's worth of patches on one, and move it from machine to iron to cutting table, finished block can be put on top to store until next time, finish a top and you have a board free for the next top? Have fun!

Check your machine, it should not gather up the edge when you sew on 1 piece of fabric. Ask a mechanic how to check the tension in your bobbin case. Something is off.

Years ago, I made 4-in-1 ruffled curtains for several rooms of my home. I sewed two rows of the zig zags over embroidery floss, on the ruffle, gathered it, and pinned it to the curtain. I then was able to sew right down the middle of the two zig zags. This way I didn’t have to worry about getting pleats instead of ruffles!

Could I use mini charm packs for this pattern as well?

I have found that spray basting sticks better when you spray the back of the fabric, rather than spraying the batting. Spray droplets on batting sink down into the fibers of the batting, leaving less adhesive for the fabric to adhere to. 😉

I use an antique iron made old fast iron as a clapper!

Changing needles?? I change when it breaks. It NEVER gets dull even if I use them for jeans, never-ever. Also choose a better machine if it stars to miss stiches. I use a 30 years and a 100 years old Singer...

True story. I made a lanyard to put my scissors onto. I was making a quilt and was constantly loosing my scissors so I thought this would be a great way to keep them handy. I got busy outside the craft room and was wearing the lanyard and sat back down to sew again. I could not find my scissors. I looked everywhere. Yes, they were around my neck.

I don’t make a line all the way across when making an HST. I’m good at eyeing about 1.5” , so I just mark the middle and not the corners. On a large square, I’ll also make the line a dash.

Can you use a piece of chipboard for the triangle to make it more thicker/stiff or will it be too thick?
